KIDS TREAT

Have you ever wanted to explore Wildlife?  Would you like to take a ride in the jungle teeming with exotic animal and plant life?  Then pack your bags and make reservations for a week in a jungle lodge at Corbett.

How do I get there?
You need to get to Ramnagar first, then you can find your way to Corbett National Park.  From there, you can sign on with the wild life department or hire an individual guide, or take the help of Hotel Corbett Hideaway who will take you the Park,  then  to your jungle lodge. Once you’re there, the only way out is the way you came in.

Who will I meet?
Well, you’ll meet the residents of Garhwal Hills, of course, as well as Wild life Office bearers that live in the area and engage in the tourist trade.

What will I eat?
Lots of local specialities, fruits-Jackfruit, Grape fruit, Mangoes probably.
Drink only bottled water and drinks.

What should I wear?
You’ll need long-sleeved shirts and pants made of a light fabric like cotton.  Oh, and did I mention a good insect repellent?  Don’t leave it at home.  Ditto for sunscreen and a sun hat.  Also, rain gear might come in handy if you find yourself in a quiet shower.

It only hurts for a second.  Make sure you get your shots.  Malaria is a nasty, nasty disease.

What animals will I see?

Bengal Tiger is sighted by the lucky ones. However, wild elephants are easily seen. A wide variety of deer are common sight. The most common food fish of the Corbett, called the Mahaseer can weigh several kilos.  Fishing is possible after taking a permit in the river Ganga

Then too, maybe you’ll be lucky enough to see an anaconda, the snake that can coil itself around its prey and suffocate it.

In some places, egrets and great white herons can be sighted, as well as otters, monkeys, jaguars, and parrots—in short, the most beautiful animals on earth. I couldn’t possibly begin to name them all here.

Advice
Whatever you do, don’t leave your Jeep/Bus or the Jungle Lodge without an escort.
